Beas kund trek is one of the most popular trek that this valley has to offer. Taking us to the origin of River beas, its a small glacial lake surrounded by meadows and some ecstatic scenic beauty of the Pir Panjal ranges. Located at an altitude of 3690m this place for sure is a mesmerizing treat. Walking on a trail along the river beas you also witness some small rivulets and some of the rarest specimens of flora and fauna. This trek is a treat throughout.
Arrive at Manali. The adjustment and adaptation to the new weather is done in the meantime. A place for temporary abode will be provided in hotel/cottages/guest house during winters.
From Jagatsukh we drive to Dhundhi via Solang valley which is a winging point for Beaskund trek. The walk is betwixt the forest of oak, fir and walnuts which leads to Dhundhi. In transit we get a glance of the majestic peak of Deo Tibba 6001 Mts. and Indrasan peak 6220 mtrs. There is a brilliant view of exalted Hanuman Tibba 5990 Mts. The climb to Bakerthatch is a subdued scale crossing a small stream near Palchani Thatch and further crossing on a wooden bridge over river Beas. From here the gentle ascent starts to Bakerthatch the base camp of Mountaineering courses of Mountaineering Institute, Manali. Overnight camp at Bakerthatch.
After breakfast we steadily climb to the base of Bhoj Patra and then conferring a little traverse a elevated ascend of 50 meter towards the line of terminal moraine of Beas kund glacier. Walking for few hours on uneven ground, steep ascends and rocky surface finally leads to a camping ground of Beas kund. A tiny lake of Beas Kund which is believed to be the source of river Beas can we observed flowing along it. Beas kund is also a base camp for the wonderful peaks of Shitidhar, Ladakhi, Manali, Friendship and Hanuman Tibba. The peaks above 6000m are Makerbeh and Shikhar Beh. Just behind the gigantic walls of mountains lies the Lahaul Valley in the north and to the west is Kangra and lower region of Himalayas known as Dhauladhar range. Visiting around the lake we backtrack to Bakerthach.
Cascading down to Dhundi and from Dhundi drive back to Manali. Programme concludes.
